Theme Names

OKay so Ch. Laureate Rachael Ray has a name that was derived from a theme of cooks/restaurants.

With Rayna's first litter I wanted to stick to the theme but twist it a tad to make it "my own" by naming them with a "Wine theme". You have to have wine to cook and drink at a restaurant NON? OUI!

So I register the Pups as :

  • Remy Martin ~ "Rémi" (need we say more on this world wide renowed superior Champange of Cognac)

  • Tinta Rufette ~ "Portia" (there are 7 different types of grapes that may be used to make Port wines mainly from Portugal (LOVE PORTUGAL): Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Cão, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and Rufete) Hence her name is PORTia

  • Rose in Bloom ~ "Rosé" (play on words for Rosenblum Cellars)- cause I love that type of wine)

Now, obviously I can't name pups that are going to be owned by co-breeders or pups going into companion homes, but.... check out what happened.

Named by Laureate: ~ Alinea: "Juno": I hope I get this right...I can't speak for Kim Aston of Laureate, but I think that Alinea is a famous Restaurant in Chicago.... going on the restaurant themes

The remaining 2 from the first litter: owners called their companion pets the following names and by coincedence:

Rhea Passito ~ "Rhea" (Rhea Vino Passito - Sweet passito wine produced with grapes typically from the Umbria region has been ranked at the top in the prestigious annual “Best Italian Wines 2006”. White Malvasia , trebbiano and grechetto, this is the mix of local grapes which allowed the "Rhea 2000", a passito wine from the "I Girasoli di Sant'Andrea" wine enterprise of Umbertide, to enter into the national hit parade of wines. The “Made in Alto Tevere” wine obtained 90 points from a qualified jury of experts who awarded its excellent analytical-technical quality. http://www.dkrimports.com/passito.htm

Chewbacca - "Bacca" ... at first he got his name for nipping on the feet... chewie was his nick name at first.. then as he matured... Bacca. I was just recently told from Bacca's mom, Barb, that Bacca means: "frenzy brought on by partaking of copious amounts of wine"! Greek God of Wine is Bacchus.

I researched some more, just because it facinated me.... this is what came up .

BACCA (noun) an indehiscent fruit derived from a single ovary having one or many seeds within a fleshy wall or pericarp: e.g. grape; tomato; cranberry

Synonyms: bacca; simple fruit

Hypernyms: ("bacca" is a kind of...) berry (a small fruit having any of various structures, e.g., simple (grape or blueberry) or aggregate (blackberry or raspberry))

Bacca is also a winery in the states. - So there you have it!
