Best Bred by Exhibitor for Group 7 Herding Dogs

I normally don't pay too much attention to "special shows" that occur during actual dog shows... for instance, this weekend I did not realize that there was a bred by exhibitor "competition" on Saturday.  I normally always put one of my dogs in that class, being new to the breeding community, I want to showcase what I have acheived so far.

Anyhow.  Charlotte and I entered the Kingston show under the Bred by exhibitor class on Saturday and Sunday.. and we were able to come away with the Best of Bred by for Group 7 dogs!  This occured at around 11:00 a.m.  Then we had to stay till after BIS... which was at around 5:15 p.m.  It made for a long day.  Thanks Tina, Taylor and Tyler for waiting for me to compete at days end.

At around 5:45... the Best of all groups competed for Best of Best. The BIS Judge had just awarded a Group 3rd and Best Puppy in Show to Maureen Lynch's little Breeze (a sheltie). Chances of a judge choosing a sheltie again is almost nil..... but Charlotte showed her little heart out, did so well in the ring..... but to no avail.. the little terrier took the prize.

That being said... Group 7 winner - that's me -  got a $50 certificate which I spent on thinning sheers, parachute chokers and 2 water dishes... and we have a big Green Ribbon to hang in Charlotte's spot!

Charlotte is now going to give it a little rest, as she has blown her coat.

Friday - Under respected mexican judge C. Gutierrez-Otero, at the age of 10 mnths, Rio receives Winner's Dog (2pts), Best of Winners (1pt), Best of Breed, Best puppy in breed, followed by a Group 3rd (1pt) and Best Puppy in Group.

On Saturday under Judge David Oljalvo - Rio receives Best of Breed as a special.

Argentine Judge David Olja also awarded Charlotte with Winner's female for 2 pts and best of opposite sex to Mr. Rio.  This was the first indoor show Charlotte attended.

History: Judge C. Gutierrez-Otero gave Rio's dam, Portia, her first 3 Canadian pts back in 2009. Portia was 11 months old.  She awarded her: Best of Winners, Best of Opposite Sex and Best puppy in Breed!

Chateauguay Weekend.

It was a hot and muggy weekend!  27 - 32 degrees celcius... not a good day to be in the middle of nowhere in a farmers field with 2 shelties.....  My GOD!!  From 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Although not a huge entry.... the experience was eventful and very useful.  We learned alot about our pups over the course of the weekend.... what "show" pace are best for each of them, what they liked and didn't like, sound sensitivity (one really hates little motocross bikes).  Brianna was able to groom her baby Charlotte from head to toe for all 4 shows and show her - Bria, you did a bang up job!

The first 2 shows it was between Charlotte and Lily, Lily going WB (1pt), BPIB - Charlotte RWB.

The last shows (#3 and #4) Lily going RWB, BPIB for the 3rd show, and then WB, BPIB for the 4th show.

All 4 days however, Lily took Best Puppy in Group!  Pictures will be coming in 2 weeks. The other 3 pictures will be coming in about 2 weeks from now on Lily's web page.

In between shows... catching up on sleep.... drinking lots of water... and doing NOTHING, cause sweat was running down your face from just breathing.

Portia's son, "HObbes" was in our care and seemed to like the experience as well. Such a well behaved baby.... Loves to be with people!!!

Our camp site was a haven relief... out of the sun... under huge pin trees, with a great breeze coming through.
 

the nights were cool enough for the Girls to enjoy their camp fire - and had a few visitors.

Catching up ....

Before I start... just wanted to say.  When I was out in Kingston showing for Linda Howie, I was able to take a photo of the winning ribbons for the specialty show.  Mike Lynch kept asking me if I had seen the ribbons... and I could see them in the box.  I looked at him as to say, yes I see the ribbons... and I hope I get one!...... but he kept saying... No... did you SEE the ribbons... so I went and looked at them.  The logo I had created for the Eastern Ontario and quebec Sheltie Fanciers was on the face of the button..... a proud moment for me. They were quite pretty.

School's out... and shows are just around the corner... actually this upcoming weekend is our first, out in Chateauguay Quebec with the "Rock n' Roll Sista's" .   The camp site is actually one of our fav spots... it's nice and quiet.... tall trees.... man made lake.... swimming pools.  ...  and the shows are across the street... kinda sorta.

We need to do some catching up on chores.  I have been so busy with trying to nail this job down, that I have not been the nicest person to hang around with, nor the "housewife" with chores... so as I await my destiny... I shall clean.

First line of business......

We had to open up the trailer, ensure mice or rodents hadn't gotten in, put in batteries for the carbon monoxide and fire alarms, flush out the lines, etc etc....  air out the matresses.... place the fresh linens... etc etc... do inventory of plates, cutlery and stuff.

Brianna has asked Eddie (her dad) if she can work with him sometimes during the summer to make some cash.  With Tyler hoping to get a job from his co-op placement (LoneStar), there may be more work than she thinks.  To start her off....  cut the lawn Bria! 

Yahooooo.... she loved this.  First time cutting grass with the lawn mower!  (She is 15 and mature enough to handle this now)

Miss Charlotte, R U ready for your Close up?

I recall when this litter was born.  An interested party wanted a female, of show quality, he/she told me that it was almost impossible to have a litter that had 2 girls, and have 2 of show quality - so If I was going to possibly keep one.... he/she would look elsewhere - that was 17 wks ago....  and here is the 2nd female from that litter of 2 females/2 males.... and yes... she is going to be hitting the rings - along side her sister Lily.

This is Charlotte - growing up like a weed.  Brianna is going to have fun with this very smart girl.

So, Charlotte is definately going to be staying at my house regardless of whatever may come up.  This is my daughter, Brianna's dog, so I may as well really get to know her.

Well.  She's not hard to look at.  Pretty Pretty Pretty

That there my friends is a definate wedge.

Very unique markings, strong colours in areas like her face.  She carries a mask like marking.  Her eyes are the darkest I have ever seen here.  Hypnotizing really. 

Her unique One stocking front leg.  Pipi comes to mind. 

Rebel like qualities FUN FUN FUN .... but my god she is a total suck in your arms.  She just leans back and is completely at ease!  Remarkable.  Just Remarkable.

Trained her today in 3 tries.  Show Show Charlotte.... good girl.... cookie.  That was it.  Now I randomly say Show Show... and there she is, looking really really good for the "judge".  Smart girl this one.

Her ears.... jeezo.  Tina had glued them at 6wks, when she was here looking at them.  The glue has been out since she has been 9 wks old.  I'm not touching them, cause, I could make things really bad... they look quite nice as is... nice enough, high enough on the head, tipped enough...to me they are okay... for now... Teething is coming soon enough - we will see how the ears are then
